Although not in Thailand the culture, roots and language are the same, so I have no guilt about including the city
There is a Thai Embassy in Vientiene with its Consular Services Department on the road out of town past the Arch. It is a VERY useful place with helpful staff when your Thai Tourist Visa expires.
There are many influences from the French Colonial days, but I have tried to illustrate the Lao/Isaans links.
