The Sanctuary has amongst its 'residents' the rare Golden Monkey, but even if you are not a zoologist it is worth a visit.
Where the road from Khon Kaen to Maha Sarakham turns right in Khosum Pisai a narrow road on the left takes you down to the Sanctuary.
Through the park gates pull over to the small hut on the right to buy a good stock of peanuts and bananas if you want to 'make friends and influence monkeys'.
It is safe to get out of your car - but it CAN help to have a stick to chase the more aggressive animals away. They seem to think that food you put in the car is theirs so jealously guard the car and its contents. They won't even allow you into the car to get more food for them.
