This town is to the east of the provincial capital, Loei, and it hosts a very colourful free Flower Festival around Christmas and New Year.
The road to Phu Rua from Loei has many "Garden Centres" stretched along the verges, selling everything from plants, shrubs and trees to attractive local pots to hold your purchases.
I did not see a hotel in Phu Rua - but there is always the Phurua(!) Hotel in Loei if you want to stay in the area.
