....... is similar in topography to the neighbouring province of Udon Thani.
Sadly it was on a journey back to Khon Kaen from Loei that I took the photographs of the forest fire used on one of the main pages.
Several kilometres into the park which is to the south of the main road from Khon Kaen to Loei can be found the beautiful Palantong Waterfall.
Like most waterfalls it needs a downhill walk through the forest to reach it, but can I assure you that it is well worth the effort.
A small flat island in the lake at its base is used by the well behaved local teens for picnics - with some mouth-watering odours drifting across from the BBQ.
There is an excellent visitor centre with good parking. The visitor centre also hosts school children and students on field trips to the park.
